However when you try and create a partition, it will reserve the OS installed part of HDD and entire SSD as “core storage” which can never be merged with the partitioned part the only way is to format the entire drive. With a single partition the OS sees the combination as a single drive FusionDrive. In my case, size of SSD was 128G and HDD was 1TB.
